An Overview of the UK Hilton Honors Credit Card
This is my review of the Hilton Honors UK Platinum Visa credit card (Hilton Honors Credit Card).
The Hilton Honors Credit Card is issued directly by Barclaycard with no restrictions to customers who also have other Barclaycard products.
I’d recommend checking your credit rating before applying for a new card. Generally you should have a rating in excess of 700+. Click here for a free Equifax credit report and score. It’s free for the first 30 days and then £14.95 per month afterwards (make sure you cancel in the first 30 days!).
There is currently no sign up or annual fee for the card. In addition, should you sign up through Topcashback you’ll receive £21 in cashback and a further £5 for signing up to Topcashback if you use this link.
UPDATE 2/03/2018: Hilton have announced that they are discontinuing the Visa Card and as such you’re no longer able to sign up to the card through the website. For existing card holders you should be able to keep earning Hilton Honors points however I suspect this will change over time. As those who read my blog will know, their is an alternative method to earn Hilton Honors point and that’s through the American Express Gold Card – see my review here. The card is free for the first 3 months and you’ll earn 20,000 membership reward points (22,000 if you use this link) which can be transferred to Hilton at a rate of 1 membership reward point to 2 Hilton Honors points. Whilst this redemption is no where close to the free night stay in ANY Hilton previously offered, to give you an idea 30,000 Hilton Honor points would provide a free night stay in say the Hilton Wembley. I suspect it’ll only be a short time until American Express amend the very generous Gold Card offer so I’d advise signing up sooner rather than later.
The Hilton Honors Credit Card Sign Up Bonus
The Hilton Honors Platinum Visa Card offers a free weekend nights stay in any Hilton when you spend £750 in the first 90 days. I’d highlight that this includes any hotel under the Hilton umbrella including the lifestyle luxury brands:
- Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts
- Conrad Hotels and Resorts
If you chose your chosen hotel carefully, you can really maximise the benefit of this reward. If you’re traveling slightly further afield, a free nights stay at the Conrad Maldives (below) could save you in the region of £520. Slightly closer to home (which could possibly be combined with the free flights from an Amex Gold Card) could be the Waldorf Astoria Rome (saving £397) or the Conrad St James London (saving £339). I’d strongly recommend the Waldorf Astoria Rome – read my review here which includes details as to how you can also get free BA flights.
What are the Other Benefits of the UK Hilton Honors Credit Card?
When you’re accepted to the Hilton Honors card you will automatically gain Silver Status in the Hilton Honors loyalty program for as long as you hold the card. Should you spend £10,000 in a calendar year you’ll be upgraded to gold. Note that this is available without any spending if you sign up to the Amex Platinum Card.
Further benefits include:
- 2,500 bonus Hilton Honours points for each of your first four stays
- 2 Hilton Honor points per £1 of spending. To give you an idea as to how far these will go, a stay at the Hilton Bankside London on a Friday in October would set you back about 41,000 Hilton Honors Points.
Hilton Credit Card – Anything Else I Should Know?
You will need to use your free nights stay within 6 months of receiving the voucher. You can only earn the free nights stay once.
Summary of the Hilton Honors Credit Card
In order to make the most of the sign up bonuses offered by this card, I’d recommend choosing one of Hiltons lifestyle luxury brands such as the Waldorf Astoria or Conrad where a saving in the region of £339 to £520 can be made. This would compliment an American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card, with Visa being more widely accepted than Amex and also providing free accommodation if you were to use the sign up bonus to redeem free flights.
I recently used my Hilton Honors Credit Card to for a free weekend away for two in the Waldorf Astoria Rome. Take a look at my review here and make sure you book your Hilton Honors Credit Card before it’s too late!
